Kathy Stenger Appointed to SWCD Board

The Becker Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) Board of Supervisors have appointed Kathy Stenger of rural Detroit Lakes, to the finish the term of board member Joe Stenger, who recently resigned from the position due to work commitments that prevented him from fulfilling his board responsibilities.  Kathy has served as the township clerk for Height of Land Township since 2005 and is a member of the SWCD Comprehensive Weed Management Committee.

Kathy will represent SWCD Election District #2 until the end of 2012.  The position will be up for election during the November general election.  Filings for the position will  open in May.  SWCD Election District #2 includes the townships to Lake Park, Hamden, Richwood, Holmesville, and North and South Height of Land. 

A five member elected Board of Supervisors establishes policies, goals, and objectives of the Becker SWCD. Supervisors are elected at large to a four-year term during the general elections. However, they represent five different geographic areas of the Becker County.
